The Holy Month: Ramadan

“…and eat and drink until the whiteness of the day becomes distinct from the blackness of the night at dawn, then complete the fast till night”, (Qur’an: sura 2, verse 187).

The act of fasting is a special form of religious service in the Islam. It belongs to the five mainstays in the Islam and due to this it’s one of the main duties for Muslims. Through self control and concentration to the essential aspects of life the sense for charity towards poor and needy person should be boosted. Moreover it causes a sense of solidarity for person, for who it is getting increasingly more difficult to reach to food.

This year the fasting period begins already at 21th August. Because of positive feedbacks in the last years Mekkafood provides once again the actual times for Ramadan of 2009 for his customers. The Ramadan ends with the three-day holiday Eid al-Fitr (Sugar Festival), which symbolizes the end of the fasting period.

The remake of the Ramadan calendar 2009 lists beside the exact fasting times also helpful details as a grace and the Sura Al-Baquara 183.

We wish all Muslims a great fasting period!
