IFS: Mekkafood is certified again at highest levelMekkafood has always set itself the highest standards. The watertight control mechanisms used by this specialist in halal products are very effective and have been recognised for years, for example through its IFS (International Food Standard) certification, which has again awarded Mekkafood the highest level of certification. The IFS is the European quality standard for the food product industry, which continues to set increasingly stricter standards each year.
The IFS uses a points system when awarding its certificates, thus splitting the evaluation process into several areas: corporate responsibility, quality management, resource management and production processes, such as monitoring, analyses and improvements. The IFS standard begins with a basic 75 points (out of 100), with the highest level being awarded for companies receiving 95 points.
Mekkafood can be proud of the fact that it has been awarded 98.99 points (IFS assessment on 6 June 2009).
'In our company, compliance with all regulations is not just self-explanatory, each and every employee tries daily to do things better. Our certification by the IFS at the highest level justifies our attempts to achieve perfection', according to Mekkafood chief executive officer Wouter van Eeuwijk.
