1993 - The start of Mekkafood.
Mekkafood started with three products and one simple goal: making Dutch snacks accessible to everyone looking for halal options.

1994 - The first Mekkafood freezer.
In 1994, many of the shops where halal consumers did their grocery shopping did not yet have a freezer. Wout van Eeuwijk took matters into his own hands and provided one himself, hand-painted and all. Within a few years, Mekkafood grew to become the market leader in frozen halal snacks in the Benelux and Germany.

2006 - Our bakery opens.
In 2006, the product range expanded with a new category: dough specialties. With our own bakery in Venlo, Mekkafood was able to start baking products like lahmacun and döner pizza in-house.

2022 - Belfeld joins the family.
Due to the tremendous growth we are experiencing at Mekkafood in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, we are opening a brand-new production facility in Belfeld in 2022, just before our 30th anniversary.

2024 - Mekkafood becomes part of GoodLife Foods.
Mekkafood is becoming part of GoodLife Foods, a leading manufacturer in the frozen food market. In this new structure, Mekkafood is even better positioned to help more people enjoy all our delicious halal specialties.
